Press Release

Embedded Modem Device Server Combines Low Power, Requires No Drivers

Copeland Communications, Inc., Gahanna, Ohio, July 20, 2009 Copeland Communications today announced its World Modem NET dialup device server with ISP service.  The device includes and embedded TCP/IP stack with a simple extended AT command structure.  No TCP/IP knowledge is needed to perform tasks such as sending emails, connecting to FTP sites or initiate a TELNET session.

The World Modem NET is an OEM module that is embedded in a user design.  The module has an embedded high speed ARM processor core that manages the dialup modem interface and TCP/IP stack.  The TCP/IP stack may also be bypassed completely, allowing users to operate the module as a standard fax modem.  The World Modem NET is fully Internet enabled supporting all popular protocols including UDP, DNS, HTTP client, PING, FTP and SMTP.

World Compliance.  The World Modem NET can be plugged into any phone network anywhere in the world without adding any components.  All isolation and protection is provided on the module.  The World Modem NET comes with a transferrable FCC Part 68 license, CE and other certifications.

Low Power, High Protection.  The World Modem NET operates at only 65mA maximum at either 3.3V or 5V and provides 5kV of isolation.

No Drivers.  Since all of the protocol details are taken care of by the World Modem NET, no special drivers are needed to initiate a session.  The World Modem NET manages the entire link.  All that is required is the ISP phone number and server addresses.  These are all supplied via simple AT commands.  When a command is executed, the World Modem NET automatically connects to the Internet, performs the task and provides the user with the results.

Easy Migration path.  The World Modem NET has the same layout as the entire Copeland Communications modular line of products.  When properly designed, no hardware changes are needed to migrate from their World Modem family to the World Modem NET, WiFi or Ethernet products.

Pricing and Availability.  The World Modem NET prices start under $43 in 1K quantities.  RS-232 and USB models are also available upon request.  The World Modem NET is available through Saelig Systems (www.saelig.com) or Copeland Communications, Inc. at  www.copelandcommunications.com.
